You can find the "Digital Horse" on the corner of Main & Mills street across from the 5/3 Pavillion and near the newly redesigned Hilton Hotel.

Covered by over 2000 hand-painted 1s and 0s, the "Digital Horse" plays homage to the impact of the digital age on all our lives. The artist, Duane Keaton, wanted to show the incredible amount of the two numbers which are required for binary code. Keaton has been commissionsed to create several murals in the region. A full-time art teacher for Southern Middle School, he helped the students with their Horse Play submission "Storm Chaser" which can be seen outside the Tatescreek Library branch. He received his Masters in Art Education from the University of Kentucky and now lives in Nicholasville with his wife, Dacian & son, Alex. He teaches art classes at the Living Arts & Science Center over the summer as well.

If you went downtown to view the horse, you are probably wondering if it is all random of if there is any meaning behind the numbers. Keaton assures me there are hidden words throughout the entire horse including the names of his wife, son, close friends and various family members. He included his favorite TV series "Star Trek" paying homage to the show that started his love for science many years ago. Also included in the horse are the names Brittny Williams and Kelsey Moore: two students from Southern Middle who passed away over the last two years.
